The brief was to convert and extend the Grade B Listed building at the former Knightswood Bus Garage into affordable residential apartments and office space.

A new storey of windows was inserted seamlessly into the long elevations, thereby sub dividing the high section of the existing building into 3 storeys.   2 storeys were added to the single storey part of the existing building at the southern edge. The 4 storey extension at the south end was scaled to line through with the top cornice of the main building and was clad in brick.  Lightweight materials were used for the new elements to contrast with the heavier masonry element, allowing an accurate reading of the building’s evolution.

As well as a mix of 30 new apartments, a new office unit was provided which fronts onto Great Western Road.
